Items

An item is one piece of work, a feature, a bug or any task, with its lane, its criterion and the spec rows it serves. An agent holds one item at a time, and the moment it claims one, the criterion freezes. That frozen bar is what work is judged against.

By an item, we mean:

  • One agent at a time: it claims, builds and submits.
  • A bar written first: the criterion says how a verifier will know.
  • Order without prompting: --after waits until its prerequisites pass.
  • A lease, two hours by default: claim again to renew it.

Filing the work

An item names its lane, its criterion and the spec rows it serves.

~/your-repo
$ pullboard add web "Checkout page pays by card" --specs G1 --criterion "Paying by card takes one step" --after 1

The bar freezes

At the claim, so it can't be lowered to get work through.

An item's life, drawn from src/machine.js: each state an item can be in, the moves between them, and the refusals every way into a final state can raise.

Try it

Claim the next item, then read the bar it froze.

~/your-repo-web-1
$ pullboard next # claims the next free item in your lane
$ pullboard show 2 # the item and its frozen criterion
$ pullboard claim 2 # renews the lease, two hours by default
